Packing can be accomplished quickly and easily when you keep the following in mind.
- Boxes of various sizes . . . soon to be available at CUBE
- Moving pads to protect your furniture
- Packing tape
- Bubble wrap and packing peanuts
- Rope
- Thick marker to label boxes
- Notebook and pen for inventory list
- Use smaller boxes for heavy items (i.e., books) and larger boxes for lighter items (i.e., clothing and linens).
- Pack each box fully without over-packing. Each box should still be cube-shaped when it’s full. Use packing peanuts or other small items to fill gaps (socks and towels work well).
- Secure each section of your CUBE with rope once packed. This will help keep your belongings from shifting during the move.
- Label each box with a number and the room in which the contents belong (i.e., Box 1 - Kitchen).
- Maintain an inventory of the box number, the room the box belongs in, and a detailed list of the contents. This will allow you to find any item easily.
- Don’t try to do it all at once.
- Tackle one room at a time starting with storage areas (basement and attic).
- Taking frequent breaks to stretch will help you avoid injury.
- Insert flat items between the walls of your CUBE and boxes.
- Turn some items on their side to use vertical space as well as horizontal space.
